How Welcoming is Your Entryway?

by Wiens Furniture & Appliance

Your entrance is the first thing people see when they walk into your home, so you’ll want to make sure it's warm and welcoming. Not sure how to do that? We'll show you how!

1. Declutter

First of all, you need to make sure your entrance isn't cluttered. No one wants to see yesterday's receipts, loose change, and random hats and mittens everywhere. Make sure everything has a spot. If you don't have enough storage, consider a buffet or a chest of drawers if you have the space.

2. Add a Beautiful Rug

A rug is a wonderful way to decorate an entrance, and it's practical too. No one wants their guest's muddy shoes wrecking the floors.

3. Add Lighting

Adding lamps to an entrance is often an afterthought but it should be one of the first things you do! Overhead lighting is necessary but lamps add a soft glow that will make your guests feel at home.

4. Add Art

Choose a few pieces of art that inspire you and are a little on the "bolder" side. After all, you don't spend much time in your entrance so you want to make sure it packs a punch for anyone who steps into your home.

5. Corral Necessities

And finally, corral your everyday necessities. Corral your keys, wallet, change, etc. in a lovely tray or basket. These things may not be the prettiest to look at on their own but in a lovely catch-all, everything looks put together.
