However, finding the perfect coffee table to go with a sectional can be tricky. When you don’t get it right, the results can be off-putting and affect the overall look of the room. So, here are a few tips for getting the sectional to coffee table look just right.
Size and Scale:
Choosing a coffee table with the proper size and scale is key to making your space feel balanced. Think about height, width, and visual weight. A large, oversized coffee table will complement a large, oversized sectional. Similarly, a slim, modern coffee table will look good with a smaller scale, modern sectional.
U-Shape:
For sectionals with the same length on either side, stick to a square or round shape table that will fit in between the two chaises; that’s easily accessible for everyone seated. Using a round coffee table makes tight quarters easier to navigate around. They’re great for families with young kids, too (no sharp corners).
L-Shape:
For L-shaped sectionals, the rule of thumb is to make sure the coffee table doesn’t extend beyond the arm of the sectional on either end. If it does, it can make the arrangement feel imbalanced and block traffic flow.
